#911Truth WTFact #8: Flight 77 Did Not Hit The Pentagon
Did you miss the introduction to this year’s campaign?
Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld was interviewed by Parade Magazine, the article appeared in the October 12, 2001 issue.
“Well, I was sitting right here in the building when it was struck . . . Here we’re talking about plastic knives and using an American Airlines flight filled with our citizens, and the missile to damage this building and similar (inaudible) that damaged the World Trade Center. . . .”
The attack at the Pentagon has been obscured by the events in New York and in Shanksville. The mainstream media has played the collapse of the towers many times but rarely gave any coverage to the Pentagon attack after the live coverage ended. The footage of what hit the Pentagon was not released until May 2006, so it wasn’t able to be played on the news. This served to relegate it to obscurity in the media coverage of the attacks. The coverage of the aftermath was critical because it provided visual confirmation of the fact that American Airlines Flight 77 did not hit the Pentagon. Numerous witnesses reported seeing a plane that flew near the flight path, but when analyzed closer, certain facts make parts of the official report impossible.
Very few witnesses actually saw the plane hit the building. The ones that do, describe something similar to the following account.
The plane seemed to be floating as if it were a paper glider and I watched in horror as it gently rocked and slowly glided straight into the Pentagon. At the point where the fuselage hit the wall, it seemed to simply melt into the building. I saw a smoke ring surround the fuselage as it made contact with the wall. It appeared as a smoke ring that encircled the fuselage at the point of contact and it seemed to be several feet thick. I later realized that it was probably the rubble of churning bits of the plane and concrete. The churning smoke ring started at the top of the fuselage and simultaneously wrapped down both the right and left sides of the fuselage to the underside, where the coiling rings crossed over each other and then coiled back up to the top. Then it started over again — only this next time, I also saw fire, glowing fire in the smoke ring. At that point, the wings disappeared into the Pentagon. And then I saw an explosion and watched the tail of the plane slip into the building.
Accounts of the impact and explosion are inconsistent with what’s expected from a plane crash. There are reports of a bright silver flash and an orange fireball, not a large exploding fireball like the Twin Towers explosions. Whatever hit the building that day was not visible to most eyewitness accounts because so few people saw the impact. That is the best explanation for the confusion between the witness accounts, physical evidence and the official story. Some witnesses even saw a plane bank sharply and fly away from the building.
The events are so conflicting that it suggests multiple things may have happened at once, including the presence of more planes, creating confusion.
The theory that no plane was there is completely false, the plane most saw was large enough and visually similar to an American Airlines jet to support the official story. What’s not clear is whether that craft hit the building. For example, some report seeing small to mid sized planes. One man even reported seeing a small silver private jet which is one thing that fits the multiple plane theories. The presence of that plane could have been related to what actually hit the building.
The main reason the official story keeps its cover is because the actual evidence mimics enough of the official report while contradicting it fatally, but unbeknownst to most who witness that particular evidence. This prevents more from looking into it, driving the mystery further.
The cover-up is well crafted web to provide just enough evidence to pass the first glance by most. The confusion of events provides easy common sense contradictions to conspiracy theories because there are so many events rule out part of that theory, but also contradict the official version and the person is unaware of that. What is critically important is what can be proven to be false by physical evidence. This article is focused specifically on the physical damage left and how it doesn’t match a Boeing 757 hitting the building. The official flight path released by the NTSB even contradicts the Commission report and evidence that the plane knocked out the 5 light poles.
A well researched documentary documents key evidence about the flight paths differing from the official reports.
The many reports of different flight paths and the NTSB report being inconsistent with physical evidence are given cover by the confusion generated by multiple planes. All of that is relevant, but the key to finding out what happened is first proving the physical scene could not have resulted from the official story.
The following video is a live CNN report which shows the scene as most saw it, after the roof collapsed.
CNN captured the initial crime scene well, but it was apparent that there was little evidence of a commercial airliner crashing. This is what led people to believe the plane was buried in the building as there is virtually no large debris visible outside.
Very few people saw this, before the roof collapsed.
Seeing the outer wall still standing with a hole not matching a Boeing 757 profile is evidence that raises a red flag to most people that have never seen it. The dimensions of a Boeing 757 make it physically impossible for the evidence to match the official story.
The external hole dictates a few things about the attack. If a plane hit the building, it would have to hit the first and second floor of the building, without bouncing off the lawn prior to impact.
This photo is a representation of the damage caused through the 3 rings impacted.
A circular damage path was carved with culminated with this punchout in the C-ring wall seen below.
What you don’t notice is significant plane wreckage or bodies.
See a plane anywhere?
The last 3 pictures are proof the interior lacked plane debris also. If these columns are standing, where’s the rest of the wreckage? It should be strewn across the floor right?
There’s even a witness that escaped the building through a hole who says she saw no evidence of plane wreckage. This is an important account, especially when considered with the path of the damage because it further constrains the possible physical explanations of the attack.
No Commercial Plane Debris
April Gallop is an employee that survived and carried her son out of the main entrance hole in the outer ring. She describes walking out of the hole and seeing no trace of an airplane.
Short version of shocking events
Ms Gallop worked in the Pentagon’s Declassification Department, responsible for publishing secret documents whose time limits had expired. It is only too easy to suspect that there were files due for declassification that somebody didn’t want ever to see the light of day.
Partial transcript — “I came out in what is believed to be the entrance or the place of initial impact and was placed on the lawn that was closest to the highway prior to be[ing] transported to the hospital [on] that particular day. While I was coming out [of] the Pentagon I didn’t see any evidence of metal, airplane seats, you know, luggage, nothing that would give me any indication that it was a plane that had hit the building.
“I did not have jet fuel over my body, my son didn’t have jet fuel over his body, the people that helped didn’t have jet fuel on their bod[ies]… There was nothing on the inside that would give me any indication that there was a plane on that particular day that [had] hit the building.
“Most of the people that were in the area where I was located and, again, I did ask because… …maybe I was off in my judgment but in speaking with everyone it was conclusive that no one else in that area where I was located had seen any parts of planes or luggage or baggage or any things of that nature.” — April Gallop

The interior damage and inner building rings
The assertions made in the video are supported by photos of the interior damage to the building. The object made a straight line tunnel through the building, punching through at least 6 outer building walls, but left no sign of plane wreckage in it’s wake.
The C-Ring Punchout
Nothing explained in official reports could have made this hole.
It’s suggested that the plane’s nose, cockpit or fuselage created this nearly round hole, but looking at the damage, there is no wreckage in sight except the small piece of debris that looks like an engine part. This is one of the main photos pointed to by debunkers to show that plane debris was found, but it is the source of controversy as it doesn’t match Boeing 757 equipment. There is nothing pictured that could generate enough force to knock the wall out in that manner. A commercial plane’s skin is similar to that of a sausage when punctured, there is very little support structure. The pictures show there is no large wreckage in the vicinity and nothing consequently that could have had the force needed to punch out that wall.
There is some greenish debris here that could be part of the projectile.
For further evidence of there being no airliner wreckage, you need only look at photos of the lawn that day. The photos and video of the lawn area in front of the building shows that there is almost no large plane debris in the flight path and the ground is undamaged. This ruled out earlier reports that the plane bounced off the lawn or skidded into the building to make that lower level impact. The evidence also rules out the possibility of one of the plane’s wings clipping the ground, generator and cable spools in the flight path. The only pieces visible on the lawn in front of the building were small enough to be carried by hand.
This photo is the main evidence of debris pointed to by debunkers. Notice it is the only large piece visible and it is not singed or scratched. It is also just a random fuselage section which has no similar parts nearby. Yet again, no seats, tail section, wings, engine cores or large machined metal pieces.
The other pieces of wreckage presented as evidence are these engine parts and small pieces of debris.
What happened to the rest of the plane?
The evidence left behind on the lawn couldn’t even be analyzed because the ground was resurfaced beginning within just a few days.
What caused the explosion and damage?
The evidence of the explosion at the Pentagon is inconsistent with a plane crash. The rumble of a jet or heavy object crashing into something and coming to a stop is much different from the direct shock wave of an explosive device. Specifically the concussion wave caused many injuries, shook nearby buildings and did not match a plane crash. At least two people were thrown 50+ feet. One of them actually reported seeing the plane. Here is a key disconnect, with the lack of plane debris and the accounts of a plane hitting the building, that suggests whatever hit the building looked like a plane but carried some explosive force. The only reconciliation for that is something that was custom made for the job.
Suddenly the walls and the ceiling began to collapse around him. The lights went out. “It went from light to dark to orange to complete black,” Mr. Pfeilstucker says. “It was so dark I couldn’t even see my hand in front of my face.”Within seconds, his left leg buckled. Unable to grab on to anything, he was thrust 70 feet down the corridor and into a tiny telephone closet halfway down the hallway connecting E Ring and A Ring. All I know is that the blast must have pushed open the steel door to the closet,” says Mr. Pfeilstucker, who had been 40 feet away from the plane’s point of impact. He remembers shutting the door and trying to stand up, not understanding what had just happened. “I thought it was some sort of a construction blast,” Mr. Pfeilstucker says. “Or maybe there was a helicopter accident.” His hard hat and work goggles were blown away. His ladder also had disappeared. (…) The fire sprinklers came on as the temperature shot up.Then he smelled jet fuel and smoke. The putrid odor was seeping into the closet.”It was this odor that I can’t describe, but one that I’ll never forget, that’s for sure,” Mr. Pfeilstucker says.
Walking back to his motorcycle he saw a commercial airliner coming from the direction of Henderson Hall the Marine Corps headquarters.. It “flew above a nearby hotel and drop its landing gear. The plane’s right wheel struck a light pole, causing it to fly at a 45-degree angle”, he said. The plane tried to recover, but hit a second light pole and continued flying at an angle. “You could hear the engines being revved up even higher,” The plane dipped its nose and crashed into the southwest side of the Pentagon. “The right engine hit high, the left engine hit low. For a brief moment, you could see the body of the plane sticking out from the side of the building. Then a ball of fire came from behind it.” An explosion followed, sending Sepulveda flying against a light pole. “if the airliner had not hit the light poles, it would have slammed into the Pentagon’s 9th and 10th corridor “A” ring, and the loss of life would have been greater.”
He was standing in the parking lot at the Pentagon when he noticed a jetliner lower its landing gear as if to make a landing an then he realized that the airplane was actually heading towards the southwest wall of the Pentagon; and he was standing only 150 feet from the point of impact and for a brief moment he could see the body of the plane sticking out from the side of the building, followed by an explosion; and the blast of the impact was so tremendous, that from his vantage point, it threw him backward over 100 feet slamming into a light pole causing him internal injuries; and despite his internal injuries, Master Sergeant Noel Sepulveda remained on his duty station at the Pentagon for seven days after this attack while manning a triage station to assist the other victims of the attack.
The following quote has received a lot of controversy, but a witness reports smelling cordite, a compound in explosives and ammunition which smells distinctly different than jet fuel.
My colleagues felt the impact, which reminded them of an earthquake. People shouted in the corridor outside that a bomb had gone off upstairs on the main concourse in the building. No alarms sounded. I walked to my office, shut down my computer, and headed out. Even before stepping outside I could smell the cordite. Then I knew explosives had been set off somewhere.
9/11 Commission member slips and says missile hit Pentagon
A plane crash would have produced an extended shaking of the building as it rumbled to a stop, but what was felt was more like the smack of a direct shock, one large jolt. The shock wave was felt 1.6 miles away at the Sheraton hotel, shaking the whole building. The blast was also described as a bright, silvery flash instead of a orange-yellow fuel explosion. Numerous witnesses reported smelling explosives or gunpowder as opposed to jet fuel, which are distinctly different to anyone who has been around explosives or guns. A section of the fire was so hot that windows were “melting” instead of shattering, firemen had to work around a small intense core of fire after putting out the initial blaze.
If they extinguished the bulk of the fire in seven minutes, the “bulk of the fire” was extinguished at approximately 9:47 a.m. or 9:48 a.m.
But the core of the fire went on for days. Firefighters on the scene spoke of the huge heat of the fire:
“The firemen were appreciative, as the heat inside the building was, in their words, “unbelievable.” It was reported that at least three of the fireman had to be given IV fluids due to the extreme heat” Terry Morin
“We’re having a lot of trouble in there. It’s about 3,000 degrees inside” Willis Roberts
“The ground was on fire. Trees were on fire. He was with the hospital corps in Vietnam when mortars and rocket shells dropped on the operating room near Da Nang — but he had never witnessed anything of this devastating intensity” Alan Wallace
“the whole back of the fire truck had melted” William Yeingst
“The fire was so hot that firefighters could not approach the impact point itself until approximately 1 P.M.” Patriotresource
“The fire was so intense it cracked concrete” USA Today
“The fire was so hot, Evey said, that it turned window glass to liquid and sent it spilling down walls into puddles on the ground” Walker Lee Evey
“You heard this huge concussion, then the room filled with this real bright light, just like everything was encompassed within this bright light” Michael Beans
“that heat and fire, it could eat you alive in three seconds” Washington Post>
“It was still burning 18 hr. later” CBS News
There were reports of multiple secondary explosions reported by major news outlets after the plane would have come to rest.
The attacks occurred at the site of a recent renovation to strengthen the walls with steel and kevlar, but a flimsy airliner penetrated three rings? The entire scene is inconsistent with airplane damage and should be the starting point of any investigation. If it was not a plane, what could it have been?
The answer may be related to whatever is being carried here under the blue tarp.
Maybe it’s related to the debris shards?
If that picture is right, then it looks to be that the “American” branding is painted over greenish colored material. If American Airlines planes were typically polished aluminum, how can this discrepancy be explained?
What’s under the tarp may have a similar greenish paint scheme. Maybe that’s why agents were running around picking up pieces of debris that day.
These resources are good places with extensive witness quotes and analysis which considers the whole body of evidence.
Watch an informative documentary on eyewitness accounts
For a final piece of evidence which dooms the official story, consider this piece from Pilots for Truth.
…according to Flight Data provided by the NTSB, the Flight Deck Door was never opened in flight. How were the hijackers able to gain access to the cockpit, remove the pilots, and navigate the aircraft to the Pentagon if the Flight Deck Door remained closed?
To complicate things further, this happened the day before…
Follow the physical evidence, and then follow the money.

On September 10, 2001, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld held a press conference disclosing that more than $2.3 trillion ($2,300,000,000,000) in Pentagon funds could not be accounted for.

Minnery, a former Marine turned whistle-blower, is risking his job by speaking out for the first time about the millions he noticed were missing from one defense agency’s balance sheets. Minnery tried to follow the money trail, even crisscrossing the country looking for records.
“The director looked at me and said ‘Why do you care about this stuff?’ It took me aback, you know? My supervisor asking me why I care about doing a good job,” said Minnery.
He was reassigned and says officials then covered up the problem by just writing it off.
“They have to cover it up,” he said. “That’s where the corruption comes in. They have to cover up the fact that they can’t do the job.”
The section of the Pentagon that was hit was recently “renovated” to withstand attacks from explosions and projectiles.
Via LA Times
“American Airlines Flight 77 struck a portion of the building that had already been renovated. It was the only area of the Pentagon with a sprinkler system, and it had been reconstructed with a web of steel columns and bars to withstand bomb blasts. The steel reinforcement, bolted together to form a continuous structure through all of the Pentagon’s five floors, kept that section of the building from collapsing for 30 minutes–enough time for hundreds of people to crawl out to safety.
The area struck by the plane also had blast-resistant windows–2 inches thick and 2,500 pounds each–that stayed intact during the crash and fire. It had fire doors that opened automatically and newly built exits that allowed people to get out.”
“While perhaps 4,500 people normally would have been working in the hardest-hit areas, because of the renovation work only about 800 were there Tuesday, officials said.” – LA Times September 2001
The fact that the attack targeted the one portion of the building that was mostly vacant is all the more remarkable considering the approach required by the aircraft blamed for the damage. According to the NTSB, American Airlines Flight 77 approached the capital from the West, and executed a 320-degree descending spiral, losing seven thousand feet before leveling out at nearly tree-top height as it made its final approach from the southwest. Instead of attacking the building in a direct fashion from a steep dive, the jet struck the first floor of the Pentagon’s west wall at a very low angle after impacting light poles and other structures hundreds of feet from the facade.” – 911research.wtc7.net
